TIME-BASED MONITOR & AUTO-CLOSE

No Overnight Holding

Closes all positions at end of each trading session. Day trading enforced.

How It Works

If you're a day trader, your plan says "no overnight holds." PipsGuard enforces that. All positions are automatically closed at your configured session end time, every trading day. New trades are blocked near close to prevent last-minute entries.

This eliminates overnight risk including swap charges, gap moves at session open, and the temptation to hold a losing trade hoping it will recover by morning.

Configuration

Parameter Default Description
close_time 16:59 ET Time to close all positions daily
block_new_trades_minutes 15 Block new trades this many minutes before close
warning_minutes 30 Warn before session close
active_days Mon-Fri Which days this rule applies
exempt_symbols [] Symbols excluded from this rule

When This Rule Fires

Pre-trade: New trade requests are blocked starting block_new_trades_minutes before session close each day.
Monitor: At close_time, all open positions (except exempt symbols) are closed at market price.
Alert: A warning is sent warning_minutes before close so you can manage exits manually.

Best For

Day traders who hold overnight "just this once" Prop firm traders with no-overnight rules Traders who want hard session boundaries

Pro Tips

  • Set close_time to 15–30 minutes before your broker's daily rollover to avoid swap charges.
  • If you trade the London session only, set close time to match London close (e.g., 12:00 ET).
  • Use exempt_symbols for positions you intentionally want to hold overnight, such as longer-term swing trades on a separate symbol set.
