TIME-BASED PRE-TRADE BLOCK

Trading Hours

Define allowed trading windows. Block everything outside.

How It Works

Set your trading hours and PipsGuard blocks all trade requests outside that window. Optionally auto-close positions when the window ends. This enforces your trading schedule — no late-night "just one more trade."

You define a start time and end time in your timezone. Outside that window, PipsGuard rejects all new trade requests. This keeps you trading during your best hours and prevents low-quality trades during off-peak sessions.

Configuration

Parameter Default Description
start_time 08:00 ET Trading window opens
end_time 20:00 ET Trading window closes
timezone America/New_York Your timezone for time calculations
auto_close_outside_hours false Close positions when window ends
active_days Mon-Fri Which days this rule applies
exempt_symbols [] Symbols excluded from time restrictions

When This Rule Fires

Pre-trade: Any trade request outside the start_time to end_time window is blocked before it reaches your broker.
Monitor: If auto_close_outside_hours is enabled, all open positions are closed when the trading window ends.

Best For

Traders who trade at bad times (late night, early morning) Anyone who needs to enforce a trading schedule Traders who win in London/NY but lose in the Asia session

Pro Tips

  • Review your trade history to find your most profitable hours — most forex traders perform best during the London-NY overlap (08:00–12:00 ET).
  • Set your window to match your best performance hours.
  • Enable auto_close_outside_hours for hard enforcement; leave it disabled to let existing trades run but block new entries outside your window.
