TIME-BASED MONITOR & AUTO-CLOSE

No Weekend Holding

Closes all positions before Friday market close. No gap risk.

How It Works

PipsGuard automatically closes all open positions before Friday market close at your configured time. It also blocks new trades near close to prevent last-minute entries. Weekend gaps can move prices hundreds of pips — this rule eliminates that risk entirely.

You get a warning before close so you can manage exits manually if you prefer. If you don't act, PipsGuard handles it automatically at the configured close time.

Configuration

Parameter Default Description
close_time 16:45 ET Time to close all positions on Friday
block_new_trades_minutes 30 Block new trades this many minutes before close
warning_minutes 60 Warn you this many minutes before close
exempt_symbols [] Symbols excluded from this rule (e.g., crypto)

When This Rule Fires

Pre-trade: New trade requests are blocked starting block_new_trades_minutes before Friday close.
Monitor: At close_time on Friday, all open positions (except exempt symbols) are closed at market price.
Alert: A warning notification is sent warning_minutes before close so you can manage your exits.

Best For

Prop firm traders — most firms penalize weekend holds Traders who "hope the gap goes my way" Leveraged traders who shouldn't hold over weekends

Pro Tips

  • Set close_time to at least 15 minutes before your broker's actual Friday close to ensure fills before liquidity dries up.
  • Use exempt_symbols for crypto pairs that trade 24/7 if your broker supports it.
  • For FTMO and most prop firms, this is a must-have rule — a single weekend gap can breach your drawdown limit instantly.
